Call Meeting to Order: Mayor Lennie Smith called the council
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Terry Morrison, Ted
Schultz. Heath Collett and Don Smith Absent: Doug Weaver.
Also present: Craig Johnstone and Lori Smith, city
clerk.

Approval of Minutes:
Schultz moved to approve the minutes of the July
11, 2016, meeting. Morrison seconded. Ayes:
All.
Schultz then
made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 18, 2016 special meeting. Don
Smith seconded Ayes: All.
Treasurer’s Report:

Mayor’s Opening
Address and Report: Encouraged
council members to gently remind citizens of city ordinances.
Old Business
Ordinances and Issues: Having issues with citizens using the
access road to golf course.
ECIC
Meeting: Next meeting is
August 24, 2016, at Tassel Ridge Winery in Leighton. Deadline for registration
is August 15. Council should email the
city clerk if interested in attending.
It is a good networking event.
Fundraising ideas for lake aerator: Possible REAP grant, golf outing. A Jasper County official recently evaluated
the lake and was unsure if an aerator would be sufficient to ease the lake's
issues. May need more drastic measures. Mayor Smith encouraged council members to
check out the solar aerators at solarbee.com.
Street Update: Special thanks to Chuck Griffith for
promptly repairing the curbing on Valley View Drive and the end of Oakland
Drive. Mayor Smith will follow up with Cessford to see when they are planning to finish repairs on
Fore Seasons Drive
New Business
Planning
and Zoning Recommendation: Craig Johnstone was on hand to answer questions concerning the
plot addition proposal, creating a buildable lot, and having two sub-plots that
will append to existing lots. The plan
was approved by the Planning and Zoning Committee. He also questioned a water line easement
across Lot B. Schultz made a motion to accept
the proposal, via Resolution 2017-01. Morrison
seconded. Ayes: All.
Signage
Proposal: Mayor will
review other cities' sign ordinances and work up a proposal.

up tree in park and burned tree pile,
