CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Call Meeting to Order: Mayor Lennie Smith called the council
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Ted Schultz.
Terry Morrison, Doug Weaver and Heath Collett. Don Smith arrived at 7:11 p.m.
Also present: Lori Smith, city clerk.
CLOSE COUNCIL MEETING - OPEN BUDGET HEARING
Weaver made a motion to close our
regular meeting and start Budget Hearing.
Schultz seconded. Ayes: All
FY18 Budget: No community
members were present. The council reviewed
the budget estimate and had questions regarding legal fees and level of real
estate taxes, which remain the same.
CLOSE BUDGET HEARING - OPEN COUNCIL MEETING
FY18 Budget: Mayor Smith
asked for acceptance of the budget as presented. Motion was made by Schultz. Seconded by Weaver. Ayes:
All.
Inquiries from the Community: Free library was taken down to
leakage. Hope to have it repaired and
replaced. Had mixed reviews about the
replacement of the signs from Yield to Stop signs. Seems to be more effective for safety. May
look into posting yield signs at the end of Parkview, Lakeview and Shoreline
Drive.
Approval of Minutes:
Schultz moved to approve the minutes of the January
9, 2017, meeting. Collett seconded.

Treasurer’s Report:
Weaver
moved to approve the January report as submitted. Schultz seconded. Ayes: All.
Payment of Bills: Morrison moved to approve payment of the bills

Mayor’s Opening
Address and Report: A reminder that
Mayor Smith will be stepping down at the end of 2017. Looking for someone in the community to run
for Mayor.
Old Business
Ordinances and Issues: Still need to deal with some community
ordinances issues. Will mention in
spring newsletter. Also discussed the
issue of dogs running loose in the community.
Spring
Clean-Up and Garage Sales: Have dumpsters
from May 1-12 and the city-wide garage sale on May 6. Thanks to everyone in observing the rules for
using the dumpsters in 2016.
New Business
ECIC
Meeting: The next ECIC
meeting will be held on Thursday, March 2 in Oskaloosa. No interest in attending this time.
Council
Report: Heath will pick
up tractor tires tomorrow to replace old ones.
Clerk Report: Will watch the budget to ensure that we do not
exceed the FY17 budget. Will keep
council posted each month to see if we will need to file an amended
budget. Will also follow up with ICAP on
the $1,000 grant for which we qualified.
This grant is also available for calendar year 2017. May use that for posts on the dam.
Maintenance Report: Please be sure to not cut the corner short
when coming up Fore Seasons Drive and turning on
Oakridge Drive. Also need to replace the NO OUTLET sign that was damaged.
