Call Meeting to
Order: Mayor Lennie Smith called the
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Barb
Arthur, Roger Fisher, Joyce Halblom and Ted Schultz
were present. Absent: Doug Weaver.
Also present: Lori Smith.
Inquiries from the
Community: None.
Planning and
Zoning: The committee would like to have a budget
amount for road repair and may revamp their suggestions on what projects to give
priority. The committee is planning a meeting in February to discuss this
further. The council is invited.
Approval of
Minutes: Schultz moved to approve the minutes of the
December 9, 2013 meeting. Arthur
seconded. Ayes: All.
Fisher
moved to approve the minutes of the January 7, 2014 budget meeting. Schultz seconded. Ayes:
All.
Treasurer’s
Report: Schultz moved to approve the
December treasurer’s report as submitted.
Arthur seconded. Ayes: All.

Mayor’s Opening Address and
Report: None.
Old Business
Budget: Fisher
made a motion to accept the budget recommendation to be presented at the public
hearing on February 10, 2014, before our regular council meeting. Schultz seconded. Ayes:
All.
FEMA Report: Need
to send more information to FEMA. We
have a new representative who has been very helpful. Small gains are being made. Hope to have it completed within the next few
weeks.
Directories: Ted
and Joyce have handed out their directories.
Barb and Roger are still working on their sections.
Other Old Business:
Discussed possible options concerning the city's tractor. The city has one yearly payment to make,
which is due in September. It was decided
to table a decision on this matter.
New
Business
2014 Mowing: Mowing
costs were compared between 2013 and 2012.
Total cost was almost $1,200 less in 2013. Decision for mowing was
tabled until the February 2014 meeting.
Attorney Contract:
Schultz moved to accept the contract for 2014 with Brierly
Law office. Halblom
seconded. Ayes: All
City Emergency Plan:
Discussed the importance of completing city-wide emergency plan. Plan to have it completed by fiscal
year-end.
ECIC Meeting: Meeting in Oskaloosa on February
20. Council members will check calendars
and indicate their interest in attending at February 10 meeting
Other New
Business: Start thinking of ideas for
newsletter items for the Spring newsletter.
Council
Report: None.
Clerk Report: W-9s and W-2s were distributed and discussed
an IPERS refund for past clerk Willett.
Maintenance
Report: None.

Fisher moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m. Halblom
seconded. Ayes: All.
The
next regular meeting of the Oakland Acres City Council is scheduled on Monday,
February 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oakland Acres Maintenance Building.
