Mayor’s Opening Address and Report:  Residents, please try not to call the Mayor late at nights or early morning.  Have been trying to keep council informed on city happenings.  Have reviewed council roles and will make suggestions to council members on possible duties.

Old Business

Road Construction:  Mayor Smith thought it went well, and the majority of residents were very flexible and receptive to the work getting done. Ran into a soft spot, and had to truck in extra gravel to shore up the road. Have gravel to fill in the shoulders.

Clean Up Day:  Got the wood pile mulched and put mulch around the trees as the park.  Will also plant hostas by yield sign to eliminate mowing.

Fish Stock:  Northstar Fish Hatchery contacted Mayor Smith the day after the last meeting.  Stocked Oak Lake with a variety of fish in May.

FEMA Projects:  Need to follow up with Griffith concerning culvert project.  Do have gravel to put along roadways.

Liquor License Application: Will email follow up.

Ordinance for Business: Have emailed interested party.

Legislative Changes to Ordinances: Read the updated ordinances, 2015-01, " Vacancies in an Elected Office and City Elections.  Arthur made a motion to accept the reading. Schultz seconded.  Ayes:  All.  The clerk then read 2015-02,  "Persons Under Legal Age/Social Hosts."  Arthur made a motion to accept the reading. Weaver seconded.  Ayes:  All.

Snow Removal Bids: Have placed ads in the Pennysaver and Jasper County Advertiser.  Deadline July1.

Dumpsters:  Discussed the possibility of continuing Dumpster Day in 2016, with a warning that abuse will make it the last time.

Curbing on Fore Seasons Drive:  Received a quote of $35,000 to do curbing on both sides from the yield sign to Viravong's house.  This is out of our budget for this year, but will check on a quote for a smaller area from the culvert.  Mayor Smith will contact Griffith concerning total costs and timeline.  Weaver made a motion to spend up to $18,000 to add curbing and fix the culvert, with the balance of FEMA funds going toward the project. Halblom seconded.  Ayes.  All.

New Business

Easement and Ordinances: Have a situation with a citizen on a property dispute. Mayor Smith contacted the city lawyer concerning the matter. Need to determine whose easement is in question, the city or the golf course.  The lawyer will obtain an abstract to determine the property in question. The lawyer will draft a letter based on the findings.

Iowa League of Cities Conference:  Reviewed the conference registration materials.  Council will review and decide if they wish to attend by the next meeting.

Quit Claim Deeds:  Need to do a quit claim deed for the golf course and a request from Dee Schild concerning the area with a filled in well area.  Will check with residents.

Council Assignments:  Planning and Zoning - Joyce Halblom; Parks and Recreation - Barb Arthur; Finance - Ted Schultz;  Special Events - Sarah Pfennigs; and Maintenance - Doug Weaver.

Parks and Recreation Committee:  Holding a meeting on June 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the maintenance building.

Council Report:  None

Clerk Report:  Thank you received from We Care after prom committee for donation, and will have finalized FY15 figures for next month.

Maintenance Report:  Working on shoulders and trees.  Received a letter from a Thompson descendent, and requested some help in keeping up the memorial in the Park.

Adjournment: Schultz moved to adjourn the meeting at  8:38  p.m.  Weaver seconded.  Ayes:  All.

These minutes are as recorded by the City Clerk and are subject to council approval at the next City Council meeting.
