Mayor’s Opening
Address and Report: None.
Old Business
Ordinances and Issues: Need to set up an ordinance on new home
builds. Need to contact Iowa League of
Cities on suggested zoning language. Currently there are at least six lots for
sale. Clerk will email the League for
information. It also looks like the shed in question had been moved. Also a washed out area across from Griffith's
on Fore Seasons Drive, with the snow melt, it has
created a gulley. Mayor Smith will check on it.
Easter
Egg Hunt: Scheduled on Saturday, April 15, in the park,
at 2 p.m. Watch newsletter for details.
Spring
Clean-Up and Garage Sales: Have dumpsters
from May 1-12 and the city-wide garage sale on May 6. Thanks to everyone in observing the rules for
using the dumpsters in 2016. Mayor Smith
will call Dodd's for dumpster.
New Business
Spring
Newsletter: Reviewed the
newsletter and approved its mailing.
Street
Naming: Need to review
the process to name a street. Need to
send a card from the city following Maxine Thompson's passing. Since there are no houses on the road in
question, perhaps we can just put a decorative sign.
Council
Report: None.
Clerk Report: Budget
was uploaded and mailed to county auditor.
Maintenance Report: Filled in holes in maintenance building roof
and cleaned up a bit. Also working to
replace tires on tractor. Will work with
Matt Innis on maintenance duties. Received a nice email about the addition of
stop signs. Need to do some community
beautification projects this spring, including cutting trees and planting some
plants in park and around the stop sign.
May want to cut down the dying trees near the golf course and offer the
wood for sale. Will talk to a few people
to see if they are interested in cutting down the trees. Need to stress that they would need to carry
liability insurance for the task.
Adjournment: Schultz moved to adjourn the meeting
at 7:33 p.m. Collett seconded. Ayes:
All.
These minutes
are as recorded by the City Clerk and are subject to council approval at the
next City Council meeting.
