Call Meeting to Order:
Mayor
Lennie Smith called the council meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Clint Follette, Terry
Morrison, Don Smith, and Ted Schultz. Absent: Lisa Griffith.
Also present: Bill Schulte, Ashley Stock, city clerk.
Inquiries from the Community:
No inquiries from the community to report
Approval of Minutes: Follette moved to approve the minutes of the August
26, 2019 meeting. Schultz seconded.
Ayes: All.
Treasurer’s Report:
Schultz
moved to approve the July report as submitted. Follette seconded. Ayes: All.
Payment of Bills: Morrison moved to approve payment
of the following bills as submitted. Schultz seconded. Ayes:

Mayor’s Opening
Address and Report: Wanted to thank Lori Smith for all that she did as city clerk, she went
well above and beyond her specified duties. She has caught the city up on a lot
of items that were past due that were creating fines for the city. She also did a lot for the celebrations within
the community (Easter, Halloween and Holiday parties).
Mayor Lennie
Smith also handed his resignation to the city council members and effective
September 10th stepped down as Mayor.
Old Business
Lombard Culvert: Griffith received the signed
document from Lombard stating that he will pay $400 toward the repair and the
cost of the culvert and is also releasing the city from any future liability on
this issue. Don Smith will connect with
Chuck Griffith to see what the completion timeline is.
Speed Bumps: Lennie talked to Strawsers and they said they
put speed bumps on curb, no one around has seen it. Lennie will talk to Collettes
and Hintzs as well.
If anyone knows where they are at please return
them to the maintenance shed. Will look
to pull up speed bumps mid-October for snow removal.
Snow removal bids: Received two bids from Agri-Vations and Devig Inc. for snow
removal. Morrison would like to touch
base with each applicant face to face to ask questions, rest of council agreed. Will look to invite them to the October 14th
meeting.
2019 Election: Deadline is September 21st to get paperwork sent into the
courthouse. Clint and Don have reached
out to a few residents to see if there was any interest. There will be two spots open during this election
Posts on Dam: Table until the October meeting.
Street Signs: Schultz will take
a count before next meeting to see how many are out here and will decide if we
just replace the 3 that need it or replace all to look uniform and be
reflective.
Burning the Dam: Lisa will contact
the fire dept to set up a time to burn the north side off.
Mowing the Dam: Will be using
Brad’s equipment for $150/day and Bill Schulte will try mowing it.
New Business
Halloween Celebration/Trick or Treating: Trick or Treating
will be on October 26, 2019 from 5-7.
Newsletter: Will send a newsletter out to all residents
the first week of October.
Holiday Party Date:
Is scheduled for Sunday December 8, 2019 from 2-4 at
the Oakland Acres Golf Course Club house.
Investment Policy and Official Depositories: Clerk will get with Lori to see what needs to happen to get new
signatures at the bank. Will get that
done this week.
Council
Report:
City Council would like to
personally thank Lennie and Lori for their years of dedication to the City of
Oakland Acres.
Smith moved to accept Mayor Smith’s
resignation, Schultz seconded, Ayes: all.
Ted Schultz will be mayor pro tem for the remainder of the term (ends 12/31/19).
Clerk Report:
Nothing to report
Maintenance report: City Council asked Bill to paint “YIELD”
at ValleyView/Oakridge Dr, ParkView/Fore
Seasons, and Shoreline Dr/Eagle Dr intersections and line across at the stop
signs on Oakridge Dr.
“SLOW” on the
roads have all been painted, look nice.
Adjournment: Schultz moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:10
p.m. Smith seconded. Ayes: All.
